What we liked
- + Includes seeds for four species: Royal Poinciana, Jacaranda, Sophora japonica and Black Pine, per the listing.
- + Comes with a clipper and gardening tool set, so a beginner does not need to buy tools separately to get started.
- + Soil discs, pots, markers and a written manual are all in the box, which keeps the first planting simple.
Trade-offs
- - Grows trees from seed, so it takes years to get anything resembling a styled bonsai.
- - Listing is marketed as a gift and says little about seed counts, tool quality or germination times.
