What we liked
- + Listed as 100 percent natural with no dyes or fillers, and mined in the USA.
- + Uniform 1/4 inch size works for bonsai, cacti and succulent containers, as the listing states.
- + Porous rock absorbs and slowly releases excess water, and works at the pot bottom to aid drainage.
Trade-offs
- - Size is an average of about 1/4 inch, so it is not sifted to a fixed size like some bonsai-specific lava rock.
- - 10 lb bag is large for a single small tree, though it stores well for repotting season.
