What we liked
- + 150 seeds in one pack, enough to sow a whole tray and select the seedlings with the best low growth and root spread
- + Listing states the seed is stored in a temperature controlled facility and packed for the current and following growing season
- + Japanese black pine is a traditional bonsai species, and the listing notes its tolerance of cold, heat, drought and salt
Trade-offs
- - The listing gives no germination rate and no sowing or stratification instructions, so you need your own method
- - Single species only, and a pine raised from seed needs many years outdoors before it reads as a bonsai
