What we liked
- + Pre-bonsai stock gives more freedom to choose a style than a finished tree
- + Staking keeps the young trunk upright while it settles into its pot
- + Procumbens nana is a forgiving juniper for learning wiring and pinching
Trade-offs
- - Arrives as nursery stock, not a shaped bonsai, so styling work is on you
- - Staked growth may need restyling to look natural once the stake is removed
