Indoor bonsai fail more often from dry air and guesswork than from outright neglect, and dry air stays invisible until leaf tips brown. A hygrometer tells you what a room is actually doing, which is usually drier than it feels. Meters vary in accuracy, in whether they log readings over time, and in whether they combine temperature and humidity or add soil moisture on a separate probe.

We weighed accuracy and long-term drift against how easy each display is to read from across a room. Battery life, calibration options and logging mattered for anyone tracking a full winter. Simple dial or digital units suit a single shelf where you just want a number. Logging models with an app suit growers running a grow tent or greenhouse who need overnight lows, not midday snapshots.
